Chief (Dr.) Chukwuebuka Onunkwo, fondly known as Eze Igbo, is a shining example of resilience, visionary leadership, and selflessness. Born on December 3, 1970, in Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, his story is one of extraordinary transformation—from humble beginnings to becoming the Founder and CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, a global brand rooted in local industrialization.
Ebuka’s entrepreneurial journey began as an apprentice, where he gained the foundational skills that paved the way for his rise in business. Starting from a small retail outlet in Cotonou, he grew his ventures into an industrial empire. In 2017, he transitioned Seahorse Lubricants to local production after a financial setback abroad, creating a brand that today provides employment to over 1,000 individuals and uplifts communities.
Despite his successes, Ebuka remains deeply committed to giving back. His philanthropic initiatives span education, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment. Since 2009, he has funded scholarships, school fees, and external examination registrations for countless students. He has also constructed roads, provided electricity infrastructure, and sponsored over 20 youths for work opportunities abroad. His contributions extend to higher education, where he supports students and institutions, including donating a bus to the Biochemistry Department at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
A passionate advocate for peace, Ebuka has been recognized as an Eminent Peace Ambassador for his unwavering efforts to foster harmony. From donating security vehicles to Anambra Vigilante Services to renovating and rebuilding churches across Ihembosi, his actions reflect a commitment to both spiritual and social well-being.
Ebuka’s leadership and humanitarian efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including The Sun Newspaper’s Industrialist of the Year Award, the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Award, and recognition from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for his outstanding philanthropy.
Today, Chief Onunkwo is answering the call of his people to represent Anambra South in the Nigerian Senate. His track record of business acumen, community service, and visionary leadership positions him as the ideal candidate to drive transformative governance. With his inspiring journey, Ebuka embodies the values of entrepreneurship, service, and progress, making him a beacon of hope and a true leader for his people.
Chief (Dr.) Chukwuebuka Onunkwo isn’t just a name; he’s a movement for change, growth, and a brighter future for Anambra South and beyond.
